Sydney, Australia – The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has today announced that Mr Ed St John will relinquish his role as Chairman with immediate effect following his decision to step down as President and CEO of Warner Music Australia.

Mr St John has served the ARIA Board tirelessly over the past ten years. In particular, his dedication and passion for the role of Chair of ARIA Music Awards/Hall Of Fame (a position in which he has served continuously since 2002) has seen the ARIA Awards continue to grow and consolidate to become the single most important and prestigious event on the Australian music calendar. Significantly, the ARIA Awards have continued to set the benchmark for achievement in Australian popular music. The ARIA Hall Of Fame has developed in recent years to become an important stand alone event which has honoured some of the most famous names in Australian music, ensuring that the legacy of our finest artists lives on.

Ed St John said today, “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank ARIA.s CEO, Stephen Peach, and my fellow Board members for their tremendous support during my time on the ARIA Board and as Chair. I am very proud of what we achieved in this time, particularly the increase in stature of both the ARIA Awards and Hall Of Fame. Our mandate has always been to advance our artists and industry rights to achieve a healthy industry that provides Australian music fans with exciting music entertainment and it.s a challenge we have continued to meet. It.s time now to hand over the reins.”

India - Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) & Indicus Analytics has released India Health Report 2010 today. This report provides a broad direction for India’s Health sector in the coming years & discusses whole range of issues pertaining to health sector.

Prepared by a leading think tank Indicus Analytics, The India Health Report 2010 was released by the Minister of State for Health, Mr. Dinesh Trivedi at a CII function. Releasing the Report, Minister stated that right to life is very basic & so is the right to health. He addressed that “ Equal opportunity for all to health”. The minister stated that the release of the report is a great beginning; however the next step would be to create a team of specialists and experts that will work to find solutions from the report.

CII Chairman of National Committee on health, Dr Trehan said that this report is a reminder of where we are and also provides a kind of checklist of the gaps that needs to be addressed. Mr Ninan, Business Standard, reinforced on skewedness of Public Private expenditure in India. 80% of the healthcare spending is on 20% population and vice versa.

The India Health Report has consolidating various facets of health sector in India such as access to healthcare, major inputs such as infrastructure availability, human resources, water & sanitation, nutrition, the role of government, issues relating to ethics and reforms in health sector.

Indians have inadequate access to quality healthcare, and this is particularly true for the poor, those residing in rural areas, STs and women. According to the Report, about 7–8 per cent of households are pushed below the poverty line because of expenses incurred on healthcare. There are critical gaps in infrastructure especially with respect to the presence of healthcare centres and well-trained staff.

The India health Report also states that the contribution of the private sector in terms of the availability of hospital beds has gradually increased from about 28 per cent in 1973 to about 61 per cent in 1996. Indicus estimates this to have reached about 78 per cent in 2009.

The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India, is proud to announce the felicitation ceremony of Mr Himanshu Roy, Commissioner of Police (Crime), Mumbai and his team for their outstanding efforts in solving the IIJS 2010 theft case.

This year, IIJS 2010 celebrated its 27th year at Goregaon with over 700 leading companies and an ever growing number of visitors when an incident rocked the event on the last day with a theft that was worth over Rs 6 crore.

Despite the heavy security at IIJS 2010 a few people who were connected to an international gang of thieves managed to sneak away with diamonds worth over Rs 6 crs. These diamonds were stolen from an Israeli company’s stall called Dalumi Group, they had been exhibiting at IIJS 2010 for five days. This untoward incident got the whole exhibition on a standstill on the last day of IIJS 2010. But it wasn’t long before Mr Himanshu Roy and his team managed to trace the culprits in Dubai and retrieve the stolen diamonds. Mr Himanshu Roy and his team completed this extraordinary task in less than 12 hours. This herculean task of arresting the culprits and retrieving the stolen diamonds wouldn’t have been possible without Mr Himanshu Roy and his team.

DTC Sightholders gathered in London last week for the annual DTC Business Excellence Seminar (BES), held at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The Seminar entitled ‘Operating in the New Normal’ was hosted by DTC CEO, Varda Shine.

Opening remarks were given by Varda Shine who said “the concept of the New Normal reflects not only the new economic realities that are being imposed on our businesses, but also the increasing opportunities that are afforded us by seeking to adapt quickly to the developing landscape”. She went on to say that if companies are to succeed, evolution will be the watchword. It is in this spirit that DTC introduced the latest evolution to its Supplier of Choice distribution policy “so we can respond to the different world in which we now live”.

Varda then introduced Gareth Penny who presented at his last BES. “It is thanks to his foresight and determination to make sure the industry evolved and remained ‘up to diamonds’ that we stand here today presented with so many opportunities for success in the years ahead”.

Gareth then took the audience back to the beginning of Supplier of Choice and talked about how the challenges we all faced then have been addressed over the past ten years but cautioned that there are challenges ahead of us.

Chambers Ireland today called for the Limerick Local Government Report to be used as a template for national local authority efficiency gains and cost consolidation. The report which was overseen by Denis Brosnan, identifies EUR20million in costs savings that could be generated by integrating the local authorities of Limerick City and County. This would lead to a local authority with a combined population of 187,000 people and offers a template that could be implemented nationally.

Seán Murphy, Deputy Chief Executive of Chambers Ireland said, “We welcome the publication of this report. Its findings offer a basis for reviewing structures and administrative manning levels in all local authorities with a view to containing costs, preserving front line services and offering better value to all local authority stakeholders. We particularly note the finding that approximately EUR6million in cost savings would be earmarked for reducing rates in Limerick City to the same levels as charged throughout County Limerick. If such a strategy were to be applied nationally, this would be of great benefit to struggling businesses.”

“Across the country, the business sector has cut costs wherever possible. Yet the one cost item that they have most difficulty in meeting and which has not fallen in line with salaries, rents etc is the local authority rate burden. The wider public sector needs to respond to the competitive challenges faced by business and cut its costs dramatically. The Limerick Local Government Report offers a basis for examination of local government structures that complements the cost savings identified in the Local Government Efficiency Review Report. Both should be implemented without delay across the country,” he concluded.

Gucci, in collaboration with the Venice International Film Festival, is pleased to announce a new annual award that will celebrate an outstanding artistic achievement by a woman in filmmaking: the Gucci Award for Women in Cinema. The Florentine House has joined forces with one of the world’s most prestigious and glamorous film festivals to spotlight and acclaim the unique contributions that women make to the film industry in a wide range of capacities, from director to actor, cinematographer to set designer, screenwriter to costume designer.

This new accolade will follow on from the Gucci Group Award which, for the past four years beginning in 2006, honoured artists who made a remarkable contribution to film. The Gucci Award for Women in Cinema will be inaugurated at the 2011 Venice International Film Festival, but thanks to Gucci and Martin Scorsese’s non-profit organization, The Film Foundation, will be preceded in 2010 with the world restoration premiere of Wanda, the highly regarded independent film directed by Barbara Loden which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

Industry-leading yoga and fitness apparel company, Zobha, announces the launch of its new menswear collection. The line was created for men who seek technically-sophisticated and handsome apparel options to suit their active lifestyle both in and out of the yoga studio.

Recognizing a void in the men’s yoga apparel category, Zobha Founder and Designer, Jamie Hanna developed the men’s collection with the same keen eye for detail and stylish aesthetic signature as her women’s designs.

The Fall line, inspired by “stormy skies,” introduces an edited assortment of year-round performance basics including a sleeveless tee, short-sleeved v-neck tee, Essential short, hot yoga short, Essential pant, zip jacket and pullover for men. Designed in a modern and masculine color palette of Midnight Blue, Skyway, Spruce and Fig, the line is both attractive and performance focused.

“Many men have expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of comfortable and stylish options available to them when shopping for yoga apparel,” explains Hanna. “I hope the new line will make men feel comfortable and confident, allowing them to fully focus on developing their practice and workout routines.”

All styles feature simple lines, a tailored fit and a fabric blend of Supplex and LYCRA which is soft to the skin, wicks moisture and supports the body without binding. Smooth elastic waistbands are designed for comfort and strength retention while zippered pockets allow handy storage for locker keys, an iPod and gym card. The Essential short has a built-in brief made of high-performance nylon mesh to help keep the wearer secure and dry.
